Failed drive but SMART showing no errors

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

My Drive 11 failed last week and I ran a SMART extended test, which showed no errors. I did a rebuild and it seemed fine - rebuild completed. It's then thrown me the same issue - 2048 read errors - so I assume SMART is missing something?

I've attached the DIAGS but is it maybe a dodgy SATA cable or something more serious?

Marvell controllers are not recommended, especially with SATA port multipliers, suggest replacing that.

P.S. btrfs is detecting a lot of data corruption you should run memtest.

What can I replace it with? Suggestions very welcome

I've done memtest a lot - you always suggest that, but it's never showing me any errors.... so what gives?

Thanks! Can Ijust swap out cards and replace? I am thinking of changing my HBA and adding a 2nd if my board has the slots - it may not.

Yes, if it's one of the suggested models, just don't get a RAID controller.
