something cheaper maybe? i only need 4 more ports and dont plan to update........

Just returned to post this as well:

Sil 3132..

Also..the 3124 may be limited with parity check speeds with >2 drives attached.

unfortunately cant find this in europe (:

SIL3114 even slower show in compatibility that will work ? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002USU1JU/ref=s9_simh_se_p147_d0_i6?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=auto-no-results-center-1&pf_rd_r=0B5F4CGCWN77Z34VDECG&pf_rd_t=301&pf_rd_p=240112507&pf_rd_i=MASSCOOL

i try to avoid the expensive solution Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8, AOC-SASLP-MV8 120 euros here...but i dont want the cheap solution not to work and at the end pay more.....

As long as you don't mind slower performance, there's nothing wrong with using either of the 4 port PCI controllers you linked.  Also, I would suggest looking for a PSU with a single +12V rail.  The one you chose has dual rails.

Slow speeds means 60 to 90 mb/sec, or less?

About the psu I find this Corsair CMPSU-500CX cheap enough.

I'm running two SiI3124 cards, two hard drives attached to each. Native performance on each card. Any more than two hard drives and it starts to slow  :)

The speed depends on the drives you are using (both source drives, and drives in the server), network speed, etc.  It is hard for me to give you any particular figures.  For day to day use you probably won't notice the slower speeds.  You will notice it during parity checks or data-rebuilds from parity.  The corsair is a fine choice of PSU, go with that.

That's what I have.  To help with speed, I run only data drives from the PCI controller and I put my parity and cache drives on my motherboard's ports since when copying from cache to data there's a lot going on.

It is also worthwhile ensuring that your smaller data drives go on the PCI controller - during parity check/build, the drive will no longer be accessed once processing has passed the end of a drive.

What do you mean it will no longer be accessed?

Consider running a parity check (or rebuild), on an unRAID system with a largest drive size of 2TB, for example.  If you also have a 500GB drive, that will only be accessed during the first 25% of the parity check.  It makes sense for that small drive to be connected to the controller which is constrained by a bandwidth bottleneck.

all parts came psu only changed to antec 400 gamer...so, server is build up and running, install unmenu, and a script from wiki for S3 sleep all works fine.

At the moment i have installed only 2 drives onen parity 2tb F4 and 1tb WD....so see how it works and add the rest of the drives one by one as i copy files on them. (need to read more and decide how i want,in what order my files want to be copied into the unraid server disks).

Since is my first build i went for 4.7 and at the moment the free version(i leave one week for holidays and when come back i will purchase the full version).

I include my sys log after preclear and parity check(0 errors) but i see some mistakes on it,some are colored red, that i dont know what it means and how to correct them.

What i would like to know is,if its safe to proceed with all my drives ten of them and transfer my data there(very important data for me are also in a offline drive and a few dvd's)

regards
