Disks 3 and 4 have a damaged parition/MBR, since you are not using parity you cannot do the usually solution, which is to rebuild the disks one by one, you can see if they mount with UD.

  • Author

they dont mount as unassigned devices so do i need to format them again?

  • Community Expert

UD doesn't require a specific MBR signature or partition layout, so not a good sign, what error do you get?

  • Author

i had them unmounted before and didnt get a error at all then i mounted them and still dont get a error. i can check again but im not sure how to un mount them

Sorry, don't follow, attempt a UD mount with one or both and post new diags.

how do i unmount the drive without it giving the missing drive prompt that wont let me start the array.

what my last post is trying to say was i had drives 3 and 4 unassigned before and they were saying "unmountable: unsupported partition layout" so i assigned them and got the same thing but i dont know how to unmount/ unassign them.

they were working for a while as unassigned devices

You mean how to unassign: Tools -> New config

Not seeing any mount attempt with UD.

  • Author

these diagnostics have them mounted as unassigned^

Do you mean they are these two NTFS disks?

  • Author

yes

  • Author

it s not giving me the option to change them from NTFS -> xfs like the others, is the FS the issue?

  • Community Expert

Unraid array won't support NFS, you will need to reformat the disks to one of the supported filesystems.

I don't know what you mean, I though this post was about a couple of array disks not mounting, please explain the current problem in detail.

  • Author

the problem is my vms stopped recognizing some of the drives assigned to them and wont boot now because of this

  • Community Expert

Post a screenshot for the 'form view' for one of the VMs, and I still don't understand why you had NTFS disks assigned to the array.

  • Author

they were set to auto and would go into NTFS and when i made them XFS instead the issue still persisted

If you want to pass-through complete disks to a VM do not assign them to the array (or pool) like they were, just leave them unassigned.
