JorgeB
Disks 3 and 4 have a damaged parition/MBR, since you are not using parity you cannot do the usually solution, which is to rebuild the disks one by one, you can see if they mount with UD. Quote Link to comment
thomasH
they dont mount as unassigned devices so do i need to format them again? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
UD doesn't require a specific MBR signature or partition layout, so not a good sign, what error do you get? Quote Link to comment
thomasH
i had them unmounted before and didnt get a error at all then i mounted them and still dont get a error. i can check again but im not sure how to un mount them Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Sorry, don't follow, attempt a UD mount with one or both and post new diags. Quote Link to comment
thomasH
how do i unmount the drive without it giving the missing drive prompt that wont let me start the array. what my last post is trying to say was i had drives 3 and 4 unassigned before and they were saying "unmountable: unsupported partition layout" so i assigned them and got the same thing but i dont know how to unmount/ unassign them. thomasH
it s not giving me the option to change them from NTFS -> xfs like the others, is the FS the issue? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Unraid array won't support NFS, you will need to reformat the disks to one of the supported filesystems. Quote Link to comment
thomasH
re-formatted them but the vms still arnt recognizing them pain-diagnostics-20230430-1700.zip Quote Link to comment

JorgeB
I don't know what you mean, I though this post was about a couple of array disks not mounting, please explain the current problem in detail. Quote Link to comment
thomasH
the problem is my vms stopped recognizing some of the drives assigned to them and wont boot now because of this Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Post a screenshot for the 'form view' for one of the VMs, and I still don't understand why you had NTFS disks assigned to the array. Quote Link to comment
thomasH
they were set to auto and would go into NTFS and when i made them XFS instead the issue still persisted Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
If you want to pass-through complete disks to a VM do not assign them to the array (or pool) like they were, just leave them unassigned. Quote Link to comment
