April 26, 20233 yr out of the blue my server stopped recognizing drives for my vms. i have updated and restarted several times and still nothing i can format them again but i do not want to lose the data on them, any help would be appreciated. pain-diagnostics-20230426-1727.zip
April 27, 20233 yr Community Expert Disks 3 and 4 have a damaged parition/MBR, since you are not using parity you cannot do the usually solution, which is to rebuild the disks one by one, you can see if they mount with UD.
April 27, 20233 yr Community Expert UD doesn't require a specific MBR signature or partition layout, so not a good sign, what error do you get?
April 27, 20233 yr Author i had them unmounted before and didnt get a error at all then i mounted them and still dont get a error. i can check again but im not sure how to un mount them
April 27, 20233 yr Community Expert Sorry, don't follow, attempt a UD mount with one or both and post new diags.
April 27, 20233 yr Author how do i unmount the drive without it giving the missing drive prompt that wont let me start the array. what my last post is trying to say was i had drives 3 and 4 unassigned before and they were saying "unmountable: unsupported partition layout" so i assigned them and got the same thing but i dont know how to unmount/ unassign them.

April 27, 20233 yr Author these diagnostics have them mounted as unassigned^ Edited April 27, 20233 yr by thomasH

April 28, 20233 yr Author it s not giving me the option to change them from NTFS -> xfs like the others, is the FS the issue?
April 29, 20233 yr Community Expert Unraid array won't support NFS, you will need to reformat the disks to one of the supported filesystems.
April 30, 20233 yr Author re-formatted them but the vms still arnt recognizing them pain-diagnostics-20230430-1700.zip
May 1, 20233 yr Author all 3 vms i have aren't recognizing drives properly they say A -2/932 gb B -1/0B C -2/962 gb they have A -480gb SSD + 1 TB HDD B -1TB HDD C -480gb SSD + 1 TB HDD
May 2, 20233 yr Community Expert I don't know what you mean, I though this post was about a couple of array disks not mounting, please explain the current problem in detail.
May 2, 20233 yr Author the problem is my vms stopped recognizing some of the drives assigned to them and wont boot now because of this
May 2, 20233 yr Community Expert Post a screenshot for the 'form view' for one of the VMs, and I still don't understand why you had NTFS disks assigned to the array.
May 2, 20233 yr Author they were set to auto and would go into NTFS and when i made them XFS instead the issue still persisted
May 3, 20233 yr Community Expert If you want to pass-through complete disks to a VM do not assign them to the array (or pool) like they were, just leave them unassigned.
