Spin disk down with a Dell T350 - PERC H345 Adapter

Hi all

 

I want to try out the spin down option in Unraid but i want to do it correct.

 

I have a Dell T350 with a controller PERC H345 Adapter.

 

I dont use the RAID function but i can see in the Idrac settings it is enabled

 

What will you recommend to do?

Most RAID controllers don't support spin down, you'd need a true HBA.

Super. But is there a way i can "verify" that it is working?

If the green icon turn grey the disk is spun down.

If they dont turn down - i think i rememeber a plugin to see what is keeping it alive.

Can you tell me what it does? Just spins down the drivees that are not in use?

It spins down all drives, drives in use will immediately spin back up.
