April 30, 20233 yr Hi there, Had a data drive disable itself the other day. It's an old 3TB drive so was happy to replace it. Am currently in the process of a preclear of the new replacement drive, which is larger than my current parity drives so will be doing the 3 way parity swap procedure. Today another data drive has disabled itself, so I'm getting a bit concerned. Also an older drive, but SMART data looks OK. I would like to power down the server, re-seat my SATA cables, power back on and rebuild this second drive onto itself. Is this a good/bad idea? Will the preclear in process on the new drive need to re-started if I power down midway through? Diagnostics are attached - thanks for any assistance. themagiceye-diagnostics-20230430-1936.zip themagiceye-smart-20230430-1939.zip

Thanks - Is it ok to power down the server to do that while a preclear is running on a new disk? And also, by "try again" do you mean rebuild the drive onto itself or something else?

It's OK, preclear will obviously be canceled. 21 hours ago, nametaken_thisonetoo said: And also, by "try again" do you mean rebuild the drive Yes, just make sure the emulated disk is mounting and contents look correct before rebuilding on top.
