February 11, 200818 yr I am a happy new unRAID customer, but am having a problem with the spin down functionality. I have my unRAID array up with 9 data drives + parity. The drive count by controller / interface are as follows (Motherboard=ASUS P4C800 Deluxe): - ICH5 - IDE (4), SATA (2) - Promise TX2 SATA378 (on Motherboard) - IDE (2), SATA (2) None of the 4 IDE drives on the ICH5 controller spin down automatically, even after sitting all night unaccessed. They will spin down if I manually click the "Spin Down" button, and stay spun down until accessed. All other drives spin down after 1 hour (including the 2 IDE drives on the Promise controller). The timeout for spin down is set to the default value of 1 hr.
February 11, 200818 yr 1. Try searching the boards - this sounds familiar. 2. One post I found refers to the need to go through a power cycle - apparently he found that the first time a drive was added it wouldn't spin down, but after the first power cycle all was well. Bill
February 12, 200818 yr Author After powering down and up last night, ALL drives were spun down this morning. Thanks for your help!
