reverson
Hi, I had a drive in my array (disk 1) fail, and so I'm attempting to replace it with a new drive. However, my parity drive is 8TB and the new drive is 18TB, so I need to do a parity swap. However, I have another 18TB drive that I would like to replace disk 1 with as the parity drive is also starting to get a little old. Is it possible after the parity copy is complete to change disk 1 from the old parity drive to the new 18TB drive to start the rebuild, or do I need to rebuild onto the parity drive and then do another rebuild? I had attempted this before, but had to restart to put the new disk in the server, and when I restarted it, unRaid was back in the old configuration with the 8TB drive as the parity rather than the 18TB drive. Solution JorgeB Posted May 3, 2023 Solution Share Posted May 3, 2023 Just now, reverson said: Is it possible after the parity copy is complete to change disk 1 from the old parity drive to the new 18TB drive to start the rebuild It is but you first must start the rebuild with old parity, you can then immediately cancel and replace disk1, if you change the disks before starting the rebuild with old parity you will need to restart the parity swap procedure from the beginning.
