Father_Redbeard
I'm brand new to this product. I have a Microserver Gen8 that is set aside for running this. I ran through the getting started docs, booting from USB worked great. But...I'm afraid I've backed myself into a corner and need help. The first and only drive (aside from boot) in this device is a 1TB SSD sitting in a 3d printed bracket where the optical drive would go. I did not have any parity or other data drives. Me being like a little kid looking at the Lego aisle, couldn't wait for my new drives to arrive. So I added the SSD to the array and started it. Downloaded Minecraft Server to host for my kids and sorta show the wifey part of the justification for the money (albeit a relatively small amount) on this project. Right now I have one 14TB HDD preclearing in bay 1 of 4. It's on the final phase. I have an additional two 14TB HDD to put in once that is done and I can power down the system/array and install them. So onto my question: How do I start over? I don't care about having to redo the Minecraft server. That was easy. But does using the New Config option reset the preclear signature on the one drive that is almost done? Does it affect my license on the USB key at all? No other crucial data is on the server at this point. But I want to start over to assign the correct drives to parity, data, and cached like I should've done to begin with. I'm mostly worried about the license key and the preclear signature on the "going on 20 hrs" drive in bay 1 Quote Link to comment

It will have no impact on preclear status, license, plugin or docker configuration. Quote Link to comment

I wonder if we should make a case for that tool to be renamed in the GUI to something like “Reset Drive Assignments” as a clearer description of what it does? The current name suggests it might do more than that. Quote Link to comment

Father_Redbeard
Oh thank you so much. I was getting worried there. I will do that once this running preclear is done. Quote Link to comment
trurl
FYI, you will want to put that SSD in a pool such as 'cache', not the parity array. SSDs in the array cannot be trimmed, and can only be written at parity speed. Quote Link to comment
Father_Redbeard
That was my plan originally but I was way too impatient to try out the "new" server and unRAID. 1 Quote Link to comment
