August 11, 201114 yr I have 3 unraid towers. 2 towers are completely full and have 12 drives each (1 parity and 11 data). Tower3 has 6 drives (1 parity and 5 data). I was thinking of upgrading tower3 first since it is smaller and all drives are 4K aligned. Tower 1 and 2 are NOT 4k aligned. Should I upgrade now or is it not a good time? Is it painless or will I have issues? I would appreciate some feedback from others who have upgraded. Thx
August 11, 201114 yr 4k alignment is relevant to disk type, i.e., AF vs non-AF. Its not relavent to unRAID version except its only available in 4.7+.
August 12, 201114 yr The hidden questions are - should he (and others too) upgrade to 5.x now or wait - is v5 stable or will he (we) facing some trouble with all the add-on (sabnzbd, transmission, unmenu, etc...) My advice : if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
August 13, 201114 yr I am also hoping for a general comment on the stability of beta10. I know there are no 'guarantees', but I have a couple 3TB drives I'd like to install, and otherwise run complete vanilla unRAID with no addons or esoteric configurations. 5.0 has been in beta since the new year.. is it fairly safe to say the mainstream bugs have been stamped out?
