adgjk
I'm currently using a LSI 9211, which started my unraid journey. I'm now looking to do a mini overhaul of my storage and would like to purchase the LSI 9305-24i. Am I able to do a straight swap with this card? I don't want to lose my array. What I was thinking I'd have to do is: Stop the array and power down Unplug all drives and remove the LSI 9211 Plug in the 9305 and reconnect all drives Reboot and start the array Is it this simple, or am I missing something glaringly obvious? I know it would also be recommended to back up any other important files before doing this too. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
OrneryTaurus
Hey there. I have the same card you're wanting to upgrade to. You'll need to change out your cables. The LSI 9211-8i uses Mini SAS SFF-8087 while the LSI 9305-24i uses Mini SAS HD SFF-8643 cables for connecting to the HBA. You won't lose your array setup, but it's always a good idea to take a screenshot of the drive layout and a backup of your USB prior to upgrading.
