August 13, 201114 yr Delving into my first build, I'm transferring files from a ubuntu box to my unraid server (no parity running yet) over gigabit router and curious if my transfer speeds sound right. Moving a few hundred gigabytes at a time, I get ~30MB/s over samba and ~70MB/s over NFS from a 5400 drive (EXT 4) to a 7200 drive. Does that sound about right? And what should I expect when transferring from AF green drives (EXT 4) to AF green drives over samba and NFS? And what about with the parity disk running? What speeds are expected? Any suggestions? Tweaks?
August 15, 201114 yr My write speed to the cache drive (WD Green 2TB) is in the 80MB/sec range using samba. Haven't used NFS a lot, so no figures there. When I wasn't using a cache drive yet, writes to the parity protected array ran at about 25MB/sec.
August 15, 201114 yr I have 2tb green drives and I get about 25-30mb/sec write speeds with no cache drive
