Moving files between pools

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a few Storage pools that i use as Initiators to connect to my windows servers, I recently purchased a few 8T SSD drives and setup another pool and want to migrate files from an existing Pool to the new one, is there an App or how would I do this through the CLI?

Have looked through the forums but cant find anything specific to Storage Pools only Cache Pools and that's not the same

This topic is covered here in the online documentation.

Note that a 'cache' pool is just a pool that is being used for caching a share - it is otherwise the same as any other pool.

Thanks for the reply, was hoping to have another faster way to do it as they are Exchange databases I am moving and they are not small. I added the file manager plugin and will see if that will do it for me.

Hey.  Did you ever figure out a faster way to move millions of tiny files quickly?  I'm trying to move DB's between pools, and i'm on day 6. The total is only a couple TB's (using the file manager plugin on 7.0)

zip them up, and then unzip into the new location.   Small files moving is a huge overhead in terms of file system operations on any OS...  Zip/unzip is usually far far faster than moving
