August 18, 201114 yr SOLD OUT! I normally would not point out an open box motherboard at $89.99 with Free shipping! that is a really good deal for a nice low cost unraid build with an I3. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182252R this is the model WITHOUT IPMI!
August 18, 201114 yr Nice one! For that price I wouldn't mind sacrificing IPMI. Just pray that it comes with an IO shield. If it doesn't, it can be a real pain to find one that fits.

Think of missing IO shield as "Free Venting".. But I do agree with you, I am struggling in my mind not to buy one. I just have no use for another server board right now. I even though about buying it for a high end Media Encoding workstation with an Xeon E3-1220 or 1240 chip. that would outperform an I7. the lack of 16x PCIe shot that down.
August 19, 201114 yr Think of missing IO shield as "Free Venting".. I call it going commando, but free venting works too. But I do agree with you, I am struggling in my mind not to buy one. I just have no use for another server board right now. When I finally retire my X7SPA-HF I will use it for a pfSense or Untangle build. Ever think about doing one of those firewall projects?
August 19, 201114 yr Author I am retiring 3-4 Atom based servers, 2 C2D Quadcore Q9550 servers and a I3-X9SCM this week or next.. including 2 or 3 X7SPA's .. hardware I have plenty of. it is finding the time to play with it all!.. Retire is a bad word... I am virtualizing it all on one monster server. (maybe 2 since i have the extra X9SCM) The rest of the hardware is to be repurposed.... the Q9550's are going away for sure. they are like space heaters....
August 19, 201114 yr Author Totally OT but why are you retiring the x9scm? I picked up 3 open box for a bargain. 2 are unraid servers and one is esxi. I'm going to move one unraid to a vm on the esxi box. That frees up an entire norco and x9scm. I could move my main win2008 raid array to it. But it is happy in a 16 bay server with an Areca card on a X7SPE-D525 I said x7spa earlier, I meant x7xpe.. Oops I never got any of the supermicro 330's. Only asus and msi. Ps. the d525's work with 8 gigs of ram! That's not on the spec sheet!
