Memory Usable Size is 15.5GB; Maximum Size is 32GB; 32GB installed; Docker Shows Memory Load Max as 15.48GB

Featured Replies

I'm trying to understand the reporting from my Dashboard which shows "Useable Size" as 15.5GB and I have 2x 16GB sticks of RAM installed. It shows "Maximum Size" as 32GB, but I'm not sure if that means that it recognizes 32GB installed or if that's the maximum the motherboard could handle. To make it more confusing and concerning, is when I go to the Docker tab and look at the Advanced View, it shows a max of 15.48GB.

So, I don't know if Unraid recognizes the full 32GB of RAM and is allocating 16GB to Docker or if Unraid only recognizes 16GB of RAM installed.

Can someone help me understand?

Thanks,

AJ

I know it's not my thread but I'll chime in anyway.

At least you've got 16GB :) Of my 64GB of RAM I get a whopping... 1.8GB of usable RAM.

From what I read in other topics, 'half the RAM' being available can be attributed to using DELL RAID cards (e.g. the H310 I use), which can be mitigated by blocking the SMBus pins. That's something I'll try once parity sync is through.

However, I use 4 sticks á 16GB and I get 1/8th of a single stick available, so something very strange is going on. 4 Sticks being dead is very unlikely, but I'll test them also after parity. I've also added my diagnostics for good measure, where it mentions This.

41 --- WARNING: BIOS bug: CPU MTRRs don't cover all of memory, losing 63456MB of RAM.

Things I'll try but currently haven't:

- update Asus Prime Z390-A BIOS (it's somewhat old)

- block SMBus pins on IT'd H310

- check for bad slots / dimms

This looks more like a BIOS/board problem, and this confirms it:

if you use only two sticks of RAM how much does it detect?

I will let you know tonight when parity rebuild is finished. :) Thanks already for the confirmation.

BIOS Update was enough. I have 62.7 / 64 GB available now which I consider perfectly normal and similar to my previous setup. :)
