Encrypted Share using external service

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I have a Unraid server which runs without encryption. I need help in setting up dedicated share which contains encrypted data for my photos and sensitive/ personal info like docs and Certificates.
I am fine with external encryption using another service (containers, VMs, anything) which runs on top on Unraid share and in-turn exposes the Unraid share with added automated encryption/ decryption.

Any pointers on how can I setup this? Are there any existing plugins which does this?
Reasons I don't want to encrypt the whole array:

  1. I already have lot of data on it. Converting to encrypted disk seems risky to me.
  2. Large parts of my data include Movies and TV shows. I don't see the point in wasting resources on encrypting those?

Please correct me if I am wrong or not completely right with the above reasoning. How else can I achieve my goal?

You can encrypt just a single drive in the array if you wish, and any shares on that drive will be encrypted. You would need to copy all data off of that drive before changing it to encrypted.
