Forcing resolution for unraid os when directly plugged in

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have an old VGA monitor that I plug into my server. It's a really small form factor (like 13") and fits in the server closet amazingly.

Is there a way to force the resolution output of the Unraid command line OS when plugging directly in the server? I'm getting a signal out of range warning on the monitor.

Thanks!

Curious if the BIOS even allows you to enter into it with that monitor?

Just tried it, it does but also outputs with a Signal Out Of Range.

Interesting.  Over my life, that is the second motherboard / monitor combination I've seen that acts that way.

First thing would be to hook up a different monitor and then reconfigure the flash drive to boot via UEFI (rename EFI~ to be EFI on the flash drive) and then reconfigure the BIOS to boot via UEFI from the flash and go from there.

Another thing to try would be a different VGA cable. Some cables don't have the pins connected that transmit the monitor ID back to the board.
