July 1, 20233 yr Community Expert No point in formatting a disk then clearing it. Clearing wipes out the format. Preclear is just an optional test of the disk. You must format AFTER adding it to the array so it will have a mountable filesystem. Many seem to have no idea what FORMAT really means.
