corrupt USB drive after updating plugins

Featured Replies

Today I wanted to update my plugins and right after that I got the message that my USB drive is corrupt and the GUI was broken.

I shut down the server and tried to reboot. Now it hangs with failure messages.

What can I do?

Thank you.

Start by removing any packages on the /extras folder if any exists.

Finally the server booted after a long time. Now I got the message that the licence file does not match the USB drive.

Something is really strange there..

Jul  6 17:42:40 Tower kernel: FAT-fs (sdb1): Directory bread(block 31226) failed

You are having flash drive issues, try copying the complete /config folder, recreating the flash drive and restore it, if issues continue you will need to replace it.

So move the USB drive to my computer and copy the /config folder. This is easy.

Recreating the flash drive? Do you mean that I have to use the "Flash Backup" and the flash tool from unraid?

You can do it manually or by using the USB tool, then restore the /config folder.

Should I use the last backup from "Unraid connect" or create a backup from the stick?

Or do I have to use the USB tool and flash an new image 6.12.2 to the same stick and restore the /config folder?

This is not clear for me, sorry...

  • Community Expert

Initially I would use the current /config folder, as long as it's readable.

  • Author

OK, should I try the same stick?

I will download a copy of the backup from unraid connect + create a backup from the running server.

  • Community Expert

Yes, as mentioned first try with the same flash drive, if issues continue after recreating replace it.

Ok USB drive is plugged into my PC and I can open the /config folder.

Problem solved :D

USB drive was not readable anymore so I used the backup from UnraidConnect and flashed it to the same drive -> server is running again!

Another drive is on the way if the old one has problems again.

So guys never forget you backups ;)
