Unraid 6.12.2 Unresponsive gui

Featured Replies

After upgrading to 6.12.0 I have had issues with the server becoming unresponsive - no gui and no ssh available to grab diagnostics from.

Upgraded to 6.12.2 when available and the same thing happens - usually after a day or two.

Not sure what to try - my server was rock solid on older versions.

including diagnosatics after a reboot.

Enable the syslog server and post that after a crash.

Will do - thanks!

If I recall correctly I was getting lots of messages like this one that just arrived in my logs:

Tower php-fpm[8883]: [WARNING] [pool www] child 458 exited on signal 9 (SIGKILL) after 13.224819 seconds from start

Attached is a diagnostics pull from a remote terminal when the GUI was not very responsive at all - the gui (and even the terminal shell) seemed to 'hang' for quite a time.

Any ideas of what could be happening?

Make sure there aren't any stale browser windows opened to the GUI, including phones/tablets, you can also try booting in safe mode.

Moving to 6.12.3 seems to have fixed my issues.

This is still happening to me every few days on 6.12.3.

Went unresponsive (no ping/gui/ssh/etc) this afternoon and had to hard-off the machine.

Now, only a few hours later and SSH server is slow to respond to keystrokes and the gui charts/etc hitch and skip off and on.

I'm having similar issues. Every few days, sometimes after about a week, my unraid server will go very unresponsive. One thing I've noticed is that my memory utilization is going way up. I have Plex transcoding to memory and it doesn't seem to be cleaning up the transcode files after upgrading to 6.12.x. I'll have large files in there eating up almost all of the 32GB ram I have. I think the server is just choking on running out of memory. Frustratingly, this worked perfectly fine prior to 6.12.x (my unraid box has been chugging along for about six years now...).

I'm wondering if others with the unresponsive server issue are also running plex and transcoding to memory. I grabbed an old nvme drive to transcode to instead, made the change this morning, and will see if that stablizes things for me.
