AngelEyes Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Hi, I have an unRaid server over 10 discs, (28TB) which I use for movies, home video and also for my work. I would like to have access to all my shares but restrict access to the 'Work' share so my kids who are getting quite PC literate now don't have any way to mess with a lot of confidential and critical files. The ideal 'simple' solution would be to create a share that required a password to access the drive a bit like Win7 BitLocker, it seems like something fairly obvious, I just haven't worked out how to do it. Would the 'hidden' option be a way to achieve this? Thanks. Adam
lionelhutz Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 You first have to create users and passwords, including putting a password on the root user. Then, you set-up the shares for the different users. It's hard to be more specific without knowing which version you are running since 4.7 and 5.0b are quite different in the share settings. Peter
AngelEyes Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 I am using v 4.5.6 Is it easy to upgrade, perhaps that should be my first job? Adam
lionelhutz Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 You just create the users and then you just enter the share allowor or not allowing the different users. http://www.lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Un-Official_UnRAID_Manual#Valid_users Peter
