Native ZFS vs ZFS Plugin: Spare Drive

Featured Replies

My google-fu skills might be leaving me as I'm getting older, but I honestly tried to find any related information.

I have 2 ZFS pools set up:

- datapool (raidz2 across 6 HDD + 1 spare)

- recpool (mirror across 2 HDD, no spare)

Back in the pre-native ZFS age, I ran the ZFS plugin which allowed me to implement the spare drive for the raidz2 pool.

Once the native ZFS became available, I was able to move the 2nd pool (mirror) fine.

How would I move the datapool to maintain the original configuration (+1 spare drive) as below?

        NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM
        datapool ONLINE 0 0 0
          raidz2-0 ONLINE 0 0 0

        spares

At the moment I am running the mirrored pool as Native ZFS and the raidz2 pool via the ZFS plugin.

The downside of running the ZFS Plugin on the latest Unraid is that every time I have to reboot the server, the "zfs plugin" zpool gets disconnected and I must reimport it manually every time.

What would be my best course of action?

Thanks!

You should be able to import that pool, see here how, near the end of the entry when it says how to re-import the pool.
