February 17, 200818 yr I wanted to share this with the group since it was difficult to troubleshoot. I had some problems using the documented procedure as formatting my USB flash drive as FAT32 with my motherboard. I re-formatted as FAT and everything worked fine.

I had some problems using the documented procedure as formatting my USB flash drive as FAT32 with my motherboard. I re-formatted as FAT and everything worked fine. Formatting with the HP USB drive formatting tool and formatting it as a DOS boot disk is also required to enable some USB drives to boot. Using fdisk /mbr on the drive may achieve the same thing.
February 18, 200818 yr FAT vs FAT32 depends upon your specific bios and its ability to properly decode the geometry of the flash drive. If FAT works for you... perfect. If FAT32 does, and FAT does not... use FAT32 instead.
