So i set up my usershares like so,

disk1>movies

disk2>movies

 

how to set movies to be read only, just these 2 folders

 

Then i have,

disk1>others

disk2>downloads

 

How do i make ''others" and ''downloads'' read+write?

User shares should allow you to enable specific security settings.

Try looking at the user share settings again. You can export the share as read-only just by changing a drop-down box.

You might need to switch your security mode to "workgroup"

Change share settings as follows:

 

movies:    security = secure

                root (and other users) = read-only

 

others,

downloads:  security = public
