Creating new ZFS pool - Unmountable: Unsupported or no file system

Featured Replies

Upgraded to 6.12.2 and wanted to recreate my previous ZFS mirror (deleting all data as seems like a great opportunity to have a clear out) of 4 drives which I had on 6.11 via the ZFS plugin, which has now been removed.

When I created this pool of 4 devices it suggesting formatting which failed with "Unmountable: Unsupported or no file system".

So using the unassigned devices plugin I deleted all existing partitions and tried again with the same result.

Then tried to create a ZFS partition on each device using unassigned devices, again same result when starting the array.

I've done lots of searches but everything is for xfs. No zfs specific suggestions on how to resolve this, any suggestions? :)

Jul 14 21:20:10 NAS root: mountpoint '/mnt/nvme' exists and is not empty

Reboot and try again, post new diags if it still fails.

Thanks @JorgeB

I had to delete the directory manually as that was where my previous ZFS was mounted! All working now

I even searched the syslog.txt file and didn't spot that the first time! Ooops

Same thing happened to me just now.  I deleted my pool and wanted to start fresh.  I couldn't get it to format.  I had to delete the /mnt/cache mount point (rm -r /mnt/cache) and then it formatted and came online.
