Unraid Crash

Featured Replies

Hi Unraid fam,

I'm new here but I've been an Unraid user for a long time. It hasn't given me the slightest trouble for years though, so I'm very new to troubleshooting.

I'm encountering an crash of sorts. When it happens all VMs and Docker containers stop and when I log into the console, it shows processor is pinned at 100%.

I've tried running in safe mode without any VMs or Docker containers running, and it will still occur after a few days.

While I can usually log into the webgui once after this has happened, once I can confirm that the CPU is pinned, I can usually not navigate further or restart the system without physically hitting reset on the host.

This has been happening every few days for a couple weeks and I'm getting nervous about my storage.

I'm on 6.12.2 currently, but I believe it started before I updated here from 6.11.something.

Thanks for the syslog info, that's very helpful. Crashed a few times since I posted originally, but I hadn't setup syslog properly. Finally I have it working and it crashed this morning.

This morning I caught the crash at 6:54 and everything after 6:57 is the reboot I think.

Thanks again for taking a look.

Attach diagnostics to your NEXT post in this thread.

Diagnostics give a lot more information to help make sense of syslog, your hardware, and configuration. I often don't look at syslog until I have looked at other things in diagnostics.

Were you experiencing the issue when these diags were saved? Not seeing anything out of the ordinary, you should also update to v6.12.3

Maybe not the cause of crash, but you seem to have a problem with the flash drive.

Do you have a backup of flash?

I was not having the issue when I took those. When it happens I usually can't navigate the webgui at all.

Oh, that would be simple. Flash is the USB drive Unraid boots from right? I could buy another. Fresh install and copy config would work right?

Yes, you should try with the current flash drive first or you will have to do a license transfer to a new one.

Is a license transfer simple? That USB has been doing this job for...almost 10 years? Might be time to replace.

Thanks for the help! It's been stable for a while with a new USB, I just thought I'd update.
