Unraid and ZFS

Featured Replies

I am working on converting my drives in Unraid server to ZFS.,  I copied all data from disk1 and converted to ZFS.  Now when copying data back only getting write speeds of 41.05 MB/s.  Seems slow.

Welcome to the club!

Be warned, it will stay as low as it is (although, usually 80MB/s are normal).

ZFS is a killer for Unraid (when used within the array). The reason is still unknown, the only solution: GET BACK TO XFS or what you have used before!

see threads like

for more info about the desaster.

So sounds like converting to ZFS isn't great idea right now?

They say "some have it, some not".

So far they have no idea what triggers it and how it can be solved.

Therefore, staying away is a very wise idea.

I'm rolling back too, it is much too frustrating to see the box crawling like a snake...

Just in case you haven't already made your decision - I think it depends on use case.  The 2nd linked thread above was mine.  I still went ahead and converted all my drives, transferring 10s of TBs of data.  It was certainly slow, but it should be a one-time process.

I use SSD cache for most of my writes, with mover running daily.  I'm sure it's not running as fast as XFS would, but I don't care because it's invisible to me.
