CPU core identification in windows VM

Let's say I have a windows VM on an 8-core machine and I've pinned cores 2/3/4/5 to the VM. Does the Windows installation 'see' that these are CPU cores 2/3/4/5 or does it regard them as 0/1/2/3? I'm wanting to allocate certain Windows tasks to specific cores. Thanks.
