Tower not working from mac but it worked before

Featured Replies

Hey, I'm trying to access Tower:// from a new setup. I changed router and location.

It worked before on my MBP... why is it not now?

I can't edit the hosts file which is one of the fixes recommended. Is there another fix to get things back to normal.

Are you putting in http://tower?  My MBP never seemed to work and I always had to type in the actual address.

In Mac you should use either:

1. http://IP-address_of_tower OR

2. http://tower.local OR

3. add ".local." to your DNS domain list in system preferences > network > wifi > advanced > DNS > doamin list, after which http://tower would work as well.

Thanks for the advice guys. My confusion is, why did my mac work with Tower beforehand when I did not edit anything but now it doesn't with a new router/setup?

I can't help thinking maybe my mac just thinks of tower with the old assigned address but I could be wrong.

I have a sky router and now it is no longer keeping the same static IP address which is causing me big problems. I'm really confused on how to assign IP addresses.

For example, my iPhone can access the tower screen fine and I think my friends iMac can too.

I can also access the SMB shares fine from smb://tower ... i just cant open it from my browser.
