6.12.3 How To Remove SSD from Array and mount an HDD instead

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I built my first Array with no parity and only an SSD.

After learning of UnRaid's Cache functionality I want to move the SSD to the 'cache pool devices' and put two HDDs in the Array.

I put the SSD in the Pool devices but I get the following error 'Wrong' when I mount the HDDs (attached).

Any advice is much appreciated.

Update: I have learned a 'heavy handed' approach to this:

  1. Stop the array by going to 'Main' and scrolling down. Under the 'Array Operation' segment click 'Stop'.
  2. Erase the Array configuration by doing the following:
    1. go to tools
    2. click on 'new config' under the 'Unraid OS' segment
    3. see 'Preserve Current Assignments' and ensure that 'none' is selected from the dropdown menu
    4. hit apply.

If anyone has a better solution it will be most welcome ;)

The usual recommendation is to preserve all, then you can change only those assignments you want to change, instead of having to reassign everything. Be very careful when reassigning drives, any disk assigned to any parity slot will be overwritten by parity.
