July 31, 20232 yr Hello, I'm in the process of building a new Unraid server but I have little to no experience with hardware. I was hoping to get some assistance choosing the correct parts for my needs. What is your budget? -- Below $1,000 ish How many drives/capacity? -- 2 to 3 drives capacity > 8tb Is expandability important to you? -- No Are you interested in running additional apps? - Yes, Plex (or Jellyfin), Rocketchat and photo apps. I'll be adding photos consistently. Multiple VMs - at least 3 (full Linux distros and simultaneous use max 3). Do you have any spare parts laying around that you would like to apply towards your build? This includes drives. -- No spare parts all new (starting from scratch) - Smaller the case the better. Thank you

Note that it only accepts mini-ITX form factor motherboards. Select an Intel, Socket 1700 (non-F SKU) 12-13th gen. processor with as many cores as you can afford. At least 32 GB of memory and an NVMe SSD for cash. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ Don't try to save on a power supply - get one in the smallest wattage you can find out of the Tier B, Mid range or better. https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/ Edited July 31, 20232 yr by Lolight

I have tweaked my parts list to reflect this change and an updated power supply. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Cv92Fs
