SSD cache question

Featured Replies

So quick question I'm turning and old gaming PC into an unRAID machine. I'm getting two 8tb nas drives for my main storage but I have a 512gb M.2 which I'll use for Dockers and vms etc can I get a 2tb SSD to use as a SSD cache or will it always put the Dockers and vms there. I'm trying to see if getting another SSD is the route or if I don't have a choice and I should just get a 2tb m.2 since the cache will always have the Dockers etc.

This is all configurable.

You can individually configure for each share which pool (if any) is used for caching purposes.

You can also configure where docker containers and VMs should be placed.

You can change things around later if you change your mind about where things should go, although depending on the change made you may then have to manually move some data to match the new setup.
