August 8, 20232 yr During data-rebuild (still running) of disk1 (replaced 6TB with 16TB) disk5 dropped from the array. I left the data-rebuild to continue. While copying some files to the emulated disk5, it became inaccessible. disk5 (and sometimes also disk11) are repeatedly dropping from the array, although already replaced disk5 and the data cable. I planned to move it to a different physical position in the chassis when the data-rebuild will be over, but if this issue occurs to the emulated disk (current issue), this has nothing to do with the physical location. I'm clueless. In case needed, I can discard the emulated disk5 and rebuild parity based on the physical disk because I know which files were copied to it after it dropped from the array. juno-diagnostics-20230808-1721.zip
August 8, 20232 yr Community Expert Disk11 also had read readers, so Unraid cannot emulated correctly the 2 invalid disks, cancel the rebuild, check cables for disk11 and post new diags after array start.
August 8, 20232 yr Author OK I'll do it when I'll get home. One comment: disk1 (6TB) was replaced by a *precleared* 16TB disk, and all errors happened after 6TB were rebuilt, so theoretically disk1 should already be valid.
August 8, 20232 yr Community Expert If you sure about that it *may* be OK to let the rebuild finish, to avoid doing it again.
August 8, 20232 yr Author Data-rebuild can't be cancelled through the gui (not the first time it happens to me lately): It just continues. Any CLI command to do this?

I'm sure about all errors happening after more than 6TB, but what does unraid writes to disk1 when it can't read from additional 2 disks? Is it possible that it writes incorrect data so invalidates the preclear? Edited August 8, 20232 yr by Gico

August 8, 20232 yr Author In main tab it seems it keeps reading the array disks and writing to disk1 (even after cancel). About 36 hours left.
August 8, 20232 yr Author Diagnostics attached. One of my cache drives had CRC errors. Replaced it's data cable and it's ok now. How can I make disk5 available while rebuild is running? juno-diagnostics-20230809-0003.zip Edited August 8, 20232 yr by Gico

August 9, 20232 yr Author Stopped the array, unassigned disk5, started the array, stopped, reassigned disk5, started the array. Parity build began for disk1 & disk5, but I'm quite skeptic whether the base issue was found/solved.
August 9, 20232 yr Community Expert The main issue is most likely power/connection related, i.e., the read errors in multiple disks.
