can´t unmount unassigned disk

Featured Replies

I have a 4TB disk connected via USB3.0 that was running fine (mounting and unmounting).

When I tried to unmount it today it tries to unmount but will show "mounted" a few seconds later again and again. Also I can not access the data saved on the disk.

Is there a way to safely unmount the disk without restarting the sever?

Thank you!

Looks like the device dropped after waking up the server from S3 sleep, you will need to reboot or manually disconnect the device.

will:

1. reboot: cause an unclean shutdown?

2. manually disconnect: cause losing data?

So please what is the safest way to go for?

It should not cause an unclean shutdown, disk is already offline.

Disk already dropped so it won't be any worse, but after manually disconnecting it won't likely allow the disk to be remounted before a reboot.

Thank you! I could disconnect the drive and the data was readable in my local PC. Rebooted the server and no unclean shutdown detected.
