Foreign language characters in subsonic addon

I'll make it short, I have a bunch of japanese music files with Japanese characters in the file name. they don't display correctly in subsonic, just a bunch of ?'s.

 

I have looked around in the subsonic forum and tried editing the subsonic.sh file, but so far no luck.

 

has anyone been able to figure out how to solve this problem?
