ZFS Pool with Cache as Primary storage

Featured Replies

Will there be the ability to use a ZFS Pool as a Secondary storage?

For instance, if I'm currently using Cache as Primary, and Array as Secondary (to speed up my writes) - will the functionality be added in to support doing the same with a ZFS Pool? i.e. Write to Cache as Primary, and ZFS Pool as Secondary?

What I want to do is have 4x14TB drives in a 2x mirrored vdev (this gives me 28TB usable space; akin to Raid 10 but with ZFS bitrot protection, etc.) but have the files initially written to my faster SSD drive which is my Cache pool.

It would be interesting to find out if there is really likely to be any performance benefit go doing this over writing directly to the ZFS array set to run in Exclusive mode.
