How to boot from USB DRIVE in Xen 8.3
Booten von einem USB-Laufwerk in Xen 8.3

 

Hey guys,

what I got:
XEN-NG 8.3

A USB stick connected with UNRAID installed.
a vm with pass-through to the USB Stick. Recognize by Windows - but can't boot from that.

What I try
I have installed unraid on the USB stick.
used guide : https://xcp-ng.org/forum/topic/266/usb-passthrough-test-reports-in-7-5rc1/6
But if I detach the Windows VM and try to start from USB - he can't find him to boot.

Issue
want to use unraid in a vm but can't boot from the stick.

Anybody got a IDEA?

Was ich habe:
XEN-NG 8.3
einen angeschlossenen USB-Stick mit installiertem UNRAID.
eine vm mit Passthrough zum USB-Stick. Wird von Windows erkannt - kann aber nicht davon booten.

Aber wenn ich die Windows VM löse und versuche von USB zu starten - kann er ihn nicht finden um zu booten.

 

Problem
Ich möchte Unraid in einer VM verwenden, kann aber nicht vom Stick booten.

Hat jemand eine IDEA?

Running Unraid in a VM is not supported, but there are a few people who have made it work, there is a forum section for those folks to collaborate.

Thanks for the Information- but i have installed on the USB Drive  - and wanna  run it from it. 

But what ever i try it dont work to start from it. 

 

Unraid didnt has a Installer ISO to install it on a USB drive right ?

Have you tried the Manual install method covered here in the online documentation?

 

Does Xen support booting a VM from the USB drive?

I have tried it to boot a stick from it.  Pass through let me make an Unraid Drive in the VM but if i want to try to start from it. It doesn't work.
