August 16, 20232 yr Hello, I have been trying to get a network connection on a new Windows Server 2022 vm. I am using virtio-win-0.1.229 and so far I am unable to get the server to even see a network connection in Device Manager. I have tried running virtio-win-gt-x64 and virtio-win-guest-tools with no luck. Here is how I have the vm set: Let me know if I have an incorrect setting or anything else I may need to change. Thanks in advance for any help provided. Rick
August 16, 20232 yr Author Thanks for the reply. I just tried virtio. The weird thing is that when I click update, it goes back to virtio-net. I am going on to the different models now.
August 16, 20232 yr Author No matter what combination I try - Network source to bro - makes no difference. After I click update, the settings go back to this:
August 16, 20232 yr Author It booted with no network connection. Should I try the different Models again?
August 16, 20232 yr Author It's working! I was able to change my settings - It didn't seem to 'stick' until I generated a mac address and then when I updated, it saved the setting. Do you think that by creating the new vm and pointing to the existing disk, something was 'reset'? Since it is working, I can do some experimenting now and determine what made it work - if I can.
August 16, 20232 yr Author Solution I was able to test this on a Windows 2016 server that had the same issue. I generated a mac address and then made the network changes: I was able to Update this with no problem. I checked the Device Manager on the vm and the network connection was there and working fine! Thanks for your help!!! Rick
