LOTS of issues, Server randomly shut down and now it has been impossible to get it to start up.

I have been receiving a lot of different errors, and have tried a lot of different solutions.

At first I was getting BZ checksum error, and I followed the directions on replacing them with the most recently release. That did not work and then I got a LZMA Data Corruption Error, and Kernel Panic VFS errors. The most recent failure resulted in a BUNCH of FSCK files getting installed in my root directory.  I took a backup of my config,  and have tried completely reinstalling unraid from brand new USB Creator, and completely replacing all the files.  That also did not work.

I also attempted to use a new USB, I was successful once. It booted up and everything was okay, except the license was tied to the other USB GUID. I took it out after doing a soft shutdown through Main page  and attempted to transfer licenses and then it too stopped working. I have no idea how to fix this, are there any suggestions?

I'm getting similar problems... I suspected the usb drive, so took a backup and then reinstalled a new key. Got worse... got into a bootloop after the login screen via the gui.

I disabled all plugins, and was able to start the array... you might give that a try, as it may get you past the initial load.

I also set my bios to not use uefi... to see if that makes a difference.

Still researching the problem... strange stuff.

Start by running memtest.

Will try again. Memtest has been a major Pain in the ass. There is 1 setting it will work on, my MB bios doesn't make it simple... Have to turn CSM on, and there are 3 other options that will actually get memtest to work. Otherwise when I select memtest it just reboots pc. Also, does not help original drive seems bricked now. Lots of files I can not get rid of in there.

Currently trying memtest, somehow got it working first try. This is using the second drive, copied all data from the most recent release on put on my drive. My original config file is not on the new drive.  Will update later today when home from work, will let memtest run.

Download the latest version of memtest directly from https://www.memtest86.com and create a boot stick with only memtest.

Was running 4 sticks of ram, failed memtest. Going to take 2 out and run again.  In the meantime, got any ideas on how to transfer license to new usb? or delete all the misc.  files on the original USB? the files show are not able to be deleted.

Make sure you have a good uncorrupted backup of your config folder, then reformat the stick with https://rufus.ie/ , being sure to select FAT32 as the format type, UNRAID as the disk label. Extract the files from the appropriate zip downloaded from the bottom of this page https://unraid.net/download, overwrite the config file with your backup, run the make bootable as admin, see if it boots.

Ok. Reformatted original drive, first I tried getting the extracted files from release and overwriting config and was left with LZMA data is corrupt error. Tried again but this time issue persisted with basic config.

New drive boots, but does not have my config. overwriting config with mine, it is booting correctly with my config. How do I go about transferring the license over?

I am guessing the old drive got bricked somehow.... Also memory is updated, running 2x16 instead of 4x16 and no issues on memtest.

further to this... I noticed system would crash when I attempted to rebuild parity... So I have shelved parity for the time being.

Conclusion is that the power supply is not able to handle the load at startup of parity check...  based on further readings around this forum.

My system is well past its use by date, and so I've ordered MB, CPU  Memory, and new Power Supply. I am going to rebuild my system to something I can be a little proud of.

I originally assembled my server from used PC parts... which > 10 years ago were at the forefront of their time. Cest la vie.
