August 24, 20232 yr Hi all, First time posting here. As the title suggests, I have the following problems only beginning to occur over the last 1-2 weeks: CPU usage has gone from 10-30% average to often sitting around 60-90%, VM tab is not loading, or can take 5-15 minutes to load, VM's themselves are no longer responsive and will take 10-30 minutes to boot/load then are unusable from being too slow, Docker's are loading very slow and even when running are sometimes not usable with how slow they are running, parity check went from taking an average of 11-24 hours to complete at 80-124mb/s to 64kb/s and taking over a week to sometimes not completing at all. Diagnostics are attached! Thank you everyone for any help you're able to provide. mainserver-diagnostics-20230824-0135.zip

August 24, 20232 yr Author Hey JorgeB! New diags attached. Also to note: the clean reboot took hours to complete, and when completed, the parity disk has been disabled, although I have no idea why as I don't see any errors reported. Just wanted to say, thank you for your amazingly quick response to this, and I think I speak on behalf of everyone that you're an absolute legend with how much help you provide to the community! mainserver-diagnostics-20230824-1334.zip
August 24, 20232 yr Community Expert Can't see what happened to parity but the disk looks OK, so you can just re-sync, may be a good idea to check/replace cables first to rule that out, also note that it's an SMR disk, unlike your data disks, so it can slow down all array writes. Looks like you are balancing one of your pool every hour, that's overkill and will cause unnecessary wear on the devices, for normal usage once a month is fine. And thanks for the words, none of the issue above are directly related to the original problem, is the VM page working correctly? VM CPU usage still seems high, though depends on what it's doing.
August 24, 20232 yr Author Cables shall be replaced as a pre-caution given they're so inexpensive. The drive is going to be replaced with an CMR drive in the very near future as well. This is the second time this drive has randomly been disabled out of nowhere, for no apparent reason, so odd.. The balancing on the pool has been changed to monthly, thanks for pointing that out! The VM page is currently loading rather quick, and VMs themselves are much snappier again. CPU usage for VMs is currently sitting typical, they can be somewhat taxing on the system at times when they're running full tilt. At this point, if nothing seems out of the ordinary minus the odd parity disk issues, I guess I monitor and report back if the same issues pop up again in the future? Thanks again!
