Cleaned up hardware and no disks detected

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently changed some fans on my tower and subsequently did a lot of cable management and general cleaning up of the server. I didn't make any hardware changes other than swapping some SATA ports while managing cables and of course the fans. After booting it up again, not a single disk is being detected by UNRAID. The BIOS is pretty skimpy but I do think the disks are detected there. I have not tried a different OS or liveUSB to double check though. Any thoughts? Attaching the diagnostics.

If you have a module power supply, I would be checking the connector at the PS end.  (It sound like the +12V connector is loose...)

By the way, cleaning up cabling is not always the best idea.  Make sure that you have left enough slack in all of the SATA cables so that you can remove the cables from each drive without disturbing a connector on another drive.  (SATA connectors are famous to being extremely susceptible to disconnecting when disturbed...)   Also tightly bundling SATA data cables can cause 'cross talk' which leads to CRC error.
