Booting into existing windows, no network driver

Featured Replies

Hey,

I finally got around to giving unraid another go on my new NAS.
After creating a VM and assigning the correct SSD, I am now on my windows login screen.

Unfortunately, since the bios (TPM) changed, I need to "Set up my PIN" again.
This can not be done without internet access.

Until now I haven't found a way to install the virtio drivers without first logging into windows.

Did anyone else run into this problem and found a solution?

Kind regards

Dustin

Try Network model e1000. That should give you Internet access.

Set pin.

Then change back to virtio and install driver.

Unfortunately, that did not work :/
I tried both Network Sources "virbr0" and "br0" with network Model e1000.

Still no internet.

I tried every single possible combination, none worked.

Maybe my config xml holds some clues?

What if I booted into windows normally, could I just install the VM Network drivers?

Sorry, I don't know. Lets wait for some skilled forum guys shows up.

Are you able to log in on the Windows VM?

Yes you should be able to boot normally and pre-install the virtio drivers.

No, now yet, only when booting directly into windows.
Will try preinstalling the virtio drivers now, hope that works.

Drivers installed - a new Problem arose...
I added a line to the syslinux config earlier:

append initrd=/bzroot vfio-pci.ids=1b21:1142

This lead to the ssd not being discovered anymore.

After removing that entry, now I can boot into windows again, but still the network is not available :(

EDIT: Changing Network Model to virtio (duh) works now!!!!

Thank you all for your help! Really appreciated!
