Very Slow disk to disk transfer

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm a complete unraid noob here and I have recently moved to unraid for my plex server. I'm in the initial stages of moving my data over. I have connected my existing hdds - ironwolf 8tb x 4 using unassigned devices plugin. I'm copying movies over to the array - no cache, no parity,  reconstruct write. The speeds start at 160 MB per second and then dwindle to about 14 or 15 MBps. What am I doing wrong here? I can't seem to find an answer to my situation after looking through the forums.

Thanks

do you use zfs as the filesystems for your array drives?

if "yes" consider this speed to be normal and get used to it.

Disks are not SMR, but there's something reading and writing to disks 1 and 3, copy should be writes only, do you know what's reading, especially from disk3?

I can't think of anything except maybe plex media server? How can I diagnose what is accessing the disks?
