Will a cache/faster drive help much for this

Featured Replies

I run XBMC with a central MySQL db and thumbnails that I host on one of my unRAID servers.  Right now it resides on one of the disks in my array and it's a regular old 5400 RPM drive.  My question is would putting them on a 7200 RPM cache drive make any noticeable difference in performance?  I have no other reason to use a cache drive, but I'm certainly not opposed to the idea if it will help.  Likewise, I have no other need for a 7200 RPM drive, but again, if if would make a difference, I'm all for it.

I don't have the exact same setup but I do have all my nfo and picture files for YAMJ on an SSD that is part of the array. Mainly so I don't have to spin disks up all the time for it to access things.

That might be an idea if you are accessing regularly.
