files on new disk not showing up in samba share (telnet shows correct, though)

Not sure what I did here

 

After adding a disk to my array and adding files to a shared folder that got written to that new disk, the new files aren't showing up as part of the shared folder through samba (with nautilus and XBMC)

 

I can telnet and see the files as part of the shared folder correctly

 

Also, I can navigate the new disk, see and access through samba the (supposed) shared files

the file browser in unmenu can correctly see the files as part of the share as well

 

the permissions are the same across drives

 

running 4.7

update: the files show up correctly through windows explorer, so it must be a problem with the samba client in ubuntu?
