September 10, 201114 yr I want to replace the sata controller in my unraid box. Its my understanding that unraid will pull the serial numbers for the drive so I will be ok swapping the card right? Do I have to do anything special?
September 10, 201114 yr Before anyone can advise you properly, you'll need to give us a bit more information about your current configuration (including unRAID version) and tell us what new sata card you intend to use.
September 10, 201114 yr It depends on which version of unraid you're using. The newer 5.x beta line uses drive serial numbers for detecting which drives are where. The older 4.x series uses specific hardware controller slots. In either case, you should be cautious and do a print-screen of your drive assignment page before proceeding.
September 10, 201114 yr Author Running 4.7. I am replacing a supermicro aoc-saslp-mv8 with an intel Sasuc8i. I flashed the intel card with the lsi it firmware.
