as I wrote in another thread my Samsung connected to Promise cards don't report temperature. So I looked at the "hdparm -I" output of a Samsung connected to the MoBo and a Samsung connected to one of the Promise cards. Here are the differences:

 

          *    SMART feature set (MoBo set --- Promise not set)

          *    Automatic Acoustic Management feature set (MoBo set --- Promise not set)

 

Security:

                frozen (MoBo --- Promise not frozen)

 

Could these differences result in temperature not shown and if this might be the reason, how can I set the required parameters?

Temperature reading comes from the SMART system, and the Promise card is not recognizing the correct responses from the Samsung's SMART system, so doesn't think it is available.

 

A very remote possibility would be to search for a firmware update for the Samsung drive, and for the Promise card.  Or don't use them together.
