New hardware for server. Possible to set old server as backup HA?

I have new hardware coming in to "replace" or upgrade my current server.

7950X3D
128 DDR5
Same 30 TB of HDD etc...

This is replacing an old 1800X AMD and 64GB of DDR4.

I was considering repurposing the old server as either a logging server or as a backup should my main server die.

Any suggestions?
Any anecdotal feedback?
