September 30, 20232 yr I'm a beginer for Unraid and would like to build a new computer system which the main usage is Plex. Can I purchase the AMD CPU - Ryzen 7 5700G for this new system? And is this CPU able to open the hardware transcoding for Plex?
September 30, 20232 yr I've never tried (I have an Nvidia GPU in my server), but looks as recently one user has had some success with a 7900. In the past, Plex transcoding on AMD was very hit or miss, usually not supported by Plex. But things have been changing the past year or so. So the answer to your question is "Possibly".
September 30, 20232 yr It is possible but it was and is a hackwork. there are some theads on this forum on how to do it. if possible get an Intel 12th gen or 13th gen IGPU those run very well with anything you want 4K/HDR and a Brunch of clients.

October 2, 20232 yr Solution FYI, I've just changed the cpu in my unraid server from a 3600x to a 5700g and so far both binhex/plex and unmanic hw transcodes are working fine.Changing from a quadro p400 to iGPU only took about 15 mins and everything 'just worked' Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
