Someone on Slick Deals mentioned a new FW for the 5k3000 drives. He said you have to request the FW directly from Hitachi. I did some searching, and I can only find mention of this new FW with the 7k3000 drives. Apparently it increases the performance of transfers.

    I just received 4new Hitachi 5K3000 drives...3 were from march with firmware 580 and 1 was from May firmware 5C0

    Would like to update the older ones to SC0 but can't find the firmware on the site!

    My thought... if it ain't broke don't fix it.  If it is not available on there website that probably means something.  Not quite sure what... but hopefully you get my meaning.
