February 23, 200818 yr i had a share called RecordedTV which was set to just used disk 2 and to exclude all the other disks. i recently needed more space for recordedTV so i added disk 7 to the share. so now it includes disk2 and disk7 and excludes all other disks. the problem is that when i try to copy a file to \\storageTower\RecordedTV\ it tells me there is not enough space. it seems liek it is nto picking up disk7 (which has 400GB free). i tried stopping ans restarting the array and i even tried rebooting the unraid server and nothing seems to work. why cant i add disk7 to my recordedTV share? please help.
February 23, 200818 yr I'm embarrassed to ask, but is there any chance you forgot to remove Disk 7 from the list of excluded drives? This is 2 reports in a row, that have a problem saving to Disk 7 through a User Share, probably just a coincidence.
February 25, 200818 yr Author any other ideas on this? it is sooo frustrating! i dont knwo what else to try.
February 26, 200818 yr Author maybe limetech could pop in and give some suggestions? as a paying customer i', starting to feel kind of irritated that a simple function like this is nto working and i am unable to get support.
February 26, 200818 yr I don't know if this will help at all, but try changing Included Disks from "disk2,disk7" to "disk7,disk2" and reboot. Can't hurt, right?
February 26, 200818 yr Author I appreciate the suggestion, but I already tried that. The only thing I have been able to come up with is to create a new share with disk 2 & 7. And then copy the contents of the original share to the new one. Then delete the original share and rename the new one. Lots of data to copy though so its taking forever. It would have been much easier if I could have just added a disk to the original share.
February 26, 200818 yr I'm sure you probably tried changing the Allocation Method and restarting, adjusting Split Level and restarting. Seems a shame to have to copy it all, when it's already on the physical disk...
February 26, 200818 yr Author Yup. I tried all those things. I even tried adding a third disk and that didn't work either.
February 26, 200818 yr Author definitely a shame to have to copy those files. Still Gor another four hours to go.
February 27, 200818 yr its set to 0 That's the problem. If set to 0, then whatever disk the share was initially created on, then all objects created in that share will stay on that disk. To allow a share to get split across multiple disks you need to set the split level to at least 1.
